How VoIP / Internet Voice Service Works |
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology allows voice calls or conversations to be transmitted over an Internet or MPLS connection. Some VoIP services may only allow you to call others using the same service or on the same MPLS network, but others allow you to call any phone number - including local, long distance, mobile, and international numbers.
While some VoIP services only work over your computer or a special VoIP phone, other services allow you to use a traditional phone connected to a VoIP adapter.
VoIP voice services "packetize" your voice into data packets that route over the Internet or an MPLS network. If you are calling a regular phone number outside of your network then the digital packet stream is converted back and then connected to the public switched telephone network before it reaches the destination. Because of the need for high quality internet connections and the need to convert the signal back and forth many times standard phone service options are more cost effective than internet voice service options. Based on your needs and location we can price out both options for you and compare.
Internet Voice Services may provide your business with the perfect solution to combine phone services with internet access and facilitate all of your business communications.
